What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a lifestyle characterized by safe, effective exercise and sound nutrition, and can be used to accomplish any goal, from improved health to weight loss to better performance. The program works for everyone — people who are just starting out to people who have trained for years. Every facet of the workout can be modified and tailored by the coach to your age, body type and ability-level.
The three main components that make CrossFit so successful are workouts, lifestyle and community, which work together to help ignite your passion and reach your goals. The Workout of the Day (WOD) is different each day and is especially formulated to help you reach your goals. The CrossFit lifestyle — a combination of sound nutrition and exercise — is the key to fitness and long-term health. Community is also key, because it helps you learn new skills, form friendships and stay motivated.
You can expect high-intensity workouts that last about an hour. Each session starts with stretching and a warm-up, a focus on fundamentals and skills and then a workout, followed by a cool-down. You'll be drenched in sweat while you do pull-ups, handstand pushups, running, rowing, bicycling, jumping rope, and weightlifting moves like deadlifts, squats, snatches and kettlebell swings.
